BALLINGARRY Community Initiative was formed during the height of Covid in May 2020. With the loss of a shop, the post office and one of the pubs, the group recognised the need to reinvigorate the community by providing social opportunities for young and old.

As part of their effort to provide social opportunities for the locals, they held their first outdoor Summer market in August 2020 and since then this Annual event has grown from strength to strength with people travelling to it from far and wide. Anybody who has visited the Market will recognise the uniqueness of it. They're very fortunate to have a beautiful picnic area in the village which is the perfect setting for people to browse the stalls, chat with neighbours and friends or simply to sit and enjoy a coffee amongst the trees and wildflowers.

On July 28th, they will host their fifth Market and this one promises to be bigger and better than ever with 35 vendors confirmed for the day. There will be something for everybody with a wide variety of local producers which will include delicious home baking, fresh local preserves, plants and shrubs, confectionery, arts and crafts, ice cream and locally produced honey and flowers.

This year they are delighted to be welcoming a performance from Cloughjordan Circus Club who they're sure will provide colourful and exciting entertainment for those in attendance and to keep the smallies happy there will be face painters in the organisers' tent. This year they are introducing a new element to the event with the addition of a social pop up tent for people who just want to sit back and relax over a chat with friends.

So if you're looking for a fun way to pass a few hours on Sunday, July 28th then pop down to Ballingarry between 11am and 2pm. There is free car parking in the adjacent GAA grounds and free entry to the market. Eircode E53 W597. You can watch out for updates on their social media accounts @Ballingarrycommunityinitiative.
