Áine Ryan's Paddy Goes to Petra will be performed in Nenagh Arts Centre on Tuesday May 30th.
The Bealtaine festival is underway and there are a series of great events coming up in North Tipp.
County Librarian Damien Dullaghan told last week’s meeting of Nenagh Municipal District that every year for the month of May “we run events in libraries to celebrate Bealtaine.”
The Tipperary Bealtaine Launch took place at 1pm on Friday 5th of May in Roscrea Library when artist/folklorist Michael Fortune and participants from Age Friendly Roscrea showcased their work and findings from their recent folklore and reminiscence project. Back in late 2022 artist/folklorist Michael Fortune began work on a project with staff and participants from Age Friendly Roscrea recording stories, tales and memories in the centre and also in people’s homes. For the Tipperary Bealtaine Programme, Michael and the group produced this material into a pop-up exhibition featuring images, text and films.”
Bealtaine is Ireland’s national festival which celebrates the arts and creativity as we age. The festival is run by Age & Opportunity, the leading national development organisation working to enable the best possible quality of life for us all as we age. Age & Opportunity Arts provides opportunities for older people to be more creative more often, to create meaningful participation and representation for all older people in cultural and creative life and to demonstrate and celebrate how our creative potential can improve with age.
