Met Eireann is forecasting the end of the long dry spell in Ireland with heavy thunderstorms in forecast in coming days. Met Eireann says there will be mixed conditions in the coming days with showers or longer spells of rain before settled conditions return later in the week.

However it is not all bad news as temperatures are set to stay around 20 degrees and Met Eireann's forecasting that high pressure will continue to dominate the weather with drier and sunnier weather set to return later next week.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, it will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and hazy sunny spells to begin on Sunday, although cloudy conditions with patchy rain and drizzle will affect parts of west Connacht and west Ulster. It'll become mostly cloudy as the day goes on, with outbreaks of rain spreading from the southeast. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees in light to moderate northerly or variable breezes, but a little cooler near Atlantic coasts with northerly winds freshening there.

Showers or longer spells of rain on Sunday night, some heavy, but some drier and clearer spells also. Milder than recent nights with temperatures no lower than 7 to 11 degrees. Breezier than of late with moderate northerly winds, fresh near western and southern coasts.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, there will be a mix of cloud and sunny spells with showers merging to longer spells of rain at times on Monday. Some heavy or thundery falls are possible. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in a mostly moderate northerly wind, fresh near Atlantic coasts. The rain and showers will gradually ease on Monday night and most places will become dry with variable cloud and clear intervals. Temperatures will not fall below 8 to 11 degrees. Light northerly winds veering easterly.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, Tuesday will bring a mix of sunny spells and showers, some heavy with isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees generally, warmest in the west, in a light to moderate easterly breeze.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, Wednesday will be another day of sunshine and showers. The showers will be largely focussed in the west and southwest, where some may be heavy and potentially thundery. Largely dry conditions look set to prevail further north and east though. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees, coolest near the east coast in a light to moderate easterly or variable breeze.

According to Met Eiereann, high pressure is likely to become increasingly dominant through the latter part of the week, mitigating the chance of further showers and re-establishing mainly fine and settled conditions. Daytime highs in high teens or low 20s.
