ALERT: Met Eireann issues first warnings for Storm Eowyn as damaging winds and snow forecast
Met Eireann has issued first warnings for Storm Eowyn as damaging very strong to gale forces winds and snow are forecast Ireland from Thursday night and through Friday.
Met Eireann has this morning issued a Status Yellow Gale Warning for all coasts of Ireland and on the Irish Sea from 5am on Thursday and a more severe Status Orange Strorm Warning for all coasts of Ireland and the Irish Sea from 2am on Friday until 5pm on Friday. It warns that Southwest winds, veering westerly will reach Storm Force 10 on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea.

A separate Weather Advisory for Storm Eowyn from Met Eireann says that on Thursday night and Friday, a deepening Low-Pressure system, Storm eowyn, is forecast to track across Ireland. Very strong to gale force winds are expected across the country with the potential for damaging wind gusts and disruption in places. Transitory falls of sleet and snow are expected too, especially across west and northwest counties. High seas and spells of heavy rain are expected also.
Met Éireann says is continuously monitoring the evolving situation and weather warnings will be issued as confidence in the forecast track/intensity of the Low-Pressure system improves.
