Six months suspended sentence for Offaly man convicted of selling or supplying drugs

Birr defendant had 18 previous convictions Tullamore District Court told

The case was heard at last week's sitting of Tullamore District Court

A BIRR defendant was convicted of selling or supplying drugs during last week's Tullamore Court sitting.

Brendan Lally, 3 McAuley Drive, Birr committed the offence on April 18, 2024 at 3 McAuley Drive.

The defending solicitor Patrick Martin told the Judge that Mr Lally's urine samples had all been clear for the last six months.

Sergeant Richard Thornton said his client had 18 previous convictions, including a previous drug possession conviction.

Mr Martin said Mr Lally is 53 years of age, is unemployed and separated. “At the time of this offence,” remarked the solicitor, “my client was suffering from ADHD and an anxiety disorder. He has been attending a psychiatrist in recent months.”

Judge Andrew Cody convicted and sentenced to six months in prison, suspending the sentence for two years.
