Great crowd out for Frank McEvoy Memorial Road Race in Killeigh

Emily Grennan, Rachel Donegan and Katie Dunne were the first three women home in the Killeigh Four-Mile Race

THE weather played its part and so did the walkers, runners and strollers on Friday evening last September 6 as a great crowd turned up for Killeigh School Boys Girls Soccer Club's Annual Frank McEvoy Memorial Walk, Run, Jog over the challenging four-mile course around Killeigh.

The club would stated its appreciation to companies and individuals who sponsored prizes and refreshments - The Square Tullamore, Cloonan's Hardware, Spollen Bathrooms & Accessories, Jody & Ursula Ready to Run, Glenisk, John from Britvic Ireland and Adrian from Premier Farm Shop.

The club also extended special thanks to the McEvoy family, Tullamore Harriers, Cora Brady for the medical services, Killeigh National School for the use of the school, Clodiagh Gaels and Fr Stapleton for use of their facilities for parking.

There was a special mention too for chief organiser Liam Dunne and his committee, all who helped with registration, refreshments, marshalling; and of course, all the competitors whether they were seeking fast times or just came along for the walk.

The first three home in the race were – Men: Kevin Minnock Tullamore 21.35, Jonathan Dunne Tullamore 21.46, Barry Mooney Tullamore 22.32; Women: Emily Grennan Tullamore 24.14, Rachel Donegan Tullamore 26.57, Katie Dunne Tullamore 30.10.
