'A true gentleman and one of life's gems' - Tributes pour in following the death of Padraig Kelly

Tributes have poured in following the untimely death of Padraig Kelly. Padraig, from Clonfanlough Hill, died peacefully at his home on August 26.

His RIP.ie notice reads: "Padraig will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife Anne (née Murphy) and family, Alan (U.S.A.), Claire, and Lorna (Australia), granddaughter Áine, sister Bernie (Boland), daughter-in-law Amy, Claire's partner Kevin, brothers-in-law, Frank, Pat, Francy, Martin, and Bill, sisters-in-law, Mag, Kathleen and Jacinta, nephew Paul, niece Deirdre, extended family, neighbours and friends."

There has been an outpour of condolences and tributes made by the local community for the much loved Athlone man. Padraig has been described as a kind and gentle man who will be sadly missed within the community.

One person says: "Thinking of you at this very sad and difficult time. May Padraig's kind and gentle soul rest in gentle peace."

Another added: "Sincere sympathy to all the Kelly family on the sad passing of Padraig, a soft spoken and quiet gentleman."

Funeral arrangements:

Padraig will repose at his home on Friday August 30 from 4pm to 8pm. The family has asked that the house be private outside of waking times. 

The removal will be on Saturday morning August 31 to St. Ciaran's Church, Clonfanlough where his Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11am.

Interment afterwards in Clonmacnois.
