A coffee morning in aid of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, organised by An Garda Síochána in association with Age Friendly Roscrea, will take place at the Age Friendly base at Roscrea Courthouse, Gaol Road (E53 TD51) on Monday, May 13, at 10.30am.
It is being organised by Sergeant Ciarán Ó Ráighne, Roscrea Garda Station, who ran a similar event last year, raising over €800 on the day.
This was done in tandem with the Making Memories Cycle that Ciarán completed last August, when he cycled from Indreabhán in Galway to Dingle in Co Kerry, a distance of 242km, in one day. A total of €30,625 was raised over the course of the year for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
Ciarán’s mother, Máire, suffers with dementia so this is a charity that is close to his heart. Footage of the cycle and associated events can be seen on The Making Memories Instagram page, @themakingmemoriescycle.
While not completing any cycle this year, Ciarán still wanted to do something to raise funds and Age Friendly Roscrea were delighted to get on board again this year.
