Lucky escape for Midlands driver as gardai respond to reports of car in ditch
A driver who later failed a breath test for in the Midlands had a lucky escape at the weekend after their car ended up on its roof in a ditch.
Abbeyleix Gardai were at the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision overnight on Sunday as Storm Isha raged across the country.
The accident happened near Ballaghmore, Co Laois.
Gardaí said: "Thankfully the driver walked away with only minor scratches after the car came to a stop on a ditch in a field."
They also confirmed the driver was arrested and brought to Portlaoise Garda Station where they failed the breath test.
The driver has now been charged to appear in court at a later date.
