Rare Red Weather Warnings for violent Storm Isha with very dangerous conditions

Rare Red Weather Warnings have been issued by Met Eireann as Storm Isha is set to bring very dangerous conditions

Met Éireann have a Status Red Weather Warning for issued for Donegal, Galway and Mayo as Storm Isha hits Ireland.

A status red severe weather warning is rarely issued but when it is, people in the areas expected to be affected should take action to protect themselves and/or their properties

In Galway and Mayo, the warning is in place from 5pm until 9pm on Sunday evening, and will be in place in Donegal from 9pm until 1am Monday morning.

Storm Isha will bring extremely strong and gusty southwest winds with severe and destructive gusts, particularly in coastal and exposed areas.

The forecaster is warning the public to expect dangerous coastal conditions with high waves and treacherous travelling conditions. They have also warned of a risk of significant and widespread power outages.

A Status Orange Wind Warning remains in place for the rest of the country. 

A Status Orange Wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Mayo is in place from 4pm on Sunday until 3am on Monday.

Storm Isha will bring very strong southwest to west winds with severe and damaging gusts. Met Eireann is warning of large coastal waves with wave overtopping, very difficult travelling conditions, fallen trees and damage to power lines

Status Orange Wind warning for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Munster, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo is in place from 5pm until 2am.

A Status Yellow Wind warning for Ireland is in place from 11am until 4am. Storm Isha will bring strong and gusty southwest winds with heavy rain at times.
