Roscrea says a sad farewell to Fr. Lorcan Kenny

Coláiste Phobal's 6th year music class presented Fr. Lorcan with a framed copy of their song 'Building Coláiste’ which they wrote specially for Fr. Lorcan for the opening service

FR. LORCAN Kenny has become one of Roscrea's most beloved members of the community and he has played an important role in the lives of generations of families and students in Roscrea during his 25-year long service.

However, last Friday was a sad day for everyone in Roscrea, but especially in Coláiste Phobal, as the school's staff and students said farewell to their long-serving Chaplain.

Fr. Lorcan has worked in Coláiste Phobal since the school came to being following the amalgamation of the three schools in the town in 1999 - Roscrea's Christian Brother, Sacred Heart Convent and Vocational School.

Fr. Lorcan also worked in the Vocational School prior to the amalgamation and has worked with students in Roscrea for 25 years.

“He’ll be sorely missed by management, his colleagues, students, past students and all of the extended Coláiste family”, the school said.

“Fr. Lorcan takes up a new position in Portroe parish in the coming weeks. We wish him the very best of luck”, Coláiste Phobal said.
