Coláiste Naomh Cormac’s 5th year music students with members of the Cassiopeia Wind Quintet following a composition workshop in Birr Theatre & Arts Centre.

THE 5th year music students of Coláiste Naomh Cormac Kilcormac enjoyed a workshop with clarinetist Deirdre O’Leary and French Hornist Cormac Ó hAodáin from Cassiopeia Wind Quintet in Birr Theatre & Arts Centre last Tuesday.

The students got to perform an accompaniment to Pavane by Ravel on chime bars, while also working on composing incidental music and developing their improvisation skills. The workshop was provided by funding from the Arts Council and was a great introduction to senior cycle music for these students.

Transition Year

CNC Kilcormac welcomed our transition year class on Wednesday August 30th with lots of team bonding games. On Wednesday September 5th, the class went to Lilliput Adventure Centre and took part in Orienteering, kayaking, bog jumping and capture the flag. Students enjoyed swimming in the lake, as the weather was lovely. They are currently paddle boarding in Shannon Harbour on Monday afternoons as part of their PE course. TY’s are busy planning the year with a Culture Day, Musical, Careers Fair and visit to a university planned already.
