Local school raises funds for two children's charities

Pupils in Carrig NS who raised over €1,000 by fundraising during Lent are pictured here with the money which was divided between the Laura Lynn Foundation and Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

THE pupils of Carrig NS run a myriad of activities during Lent each year to raise money for charities. We call this “Le Cheile” as they all work together to try to think about and help those who are less well off than themselves and those who may be experiencing difficulty in their lives.

The activities they engage in could be selling buns and cakes, guess the teddy’s name, guess how many sweets in the jar, soccer shoot-out, welly throwing and many more. They run these activities on Fridays during Lent and raise a significant sum of money every year.

This year, they raised over €1,000. A cheque of €500 has been sent to Laura Lynn and another for €500 to Crumlin Children’s Hospital. They also donated €200 to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Well done everyone and it’s good to know that your hard work will benefit other children and their families.
