Roadworks in Glaskill and the Brocca Road, Mucklagh which form part of Tullamore Municipal District’s 2024 programme of works, have been welcomed by Cllr Neil Feighery, a candidate in next month's local elections.
Said the Fine Gael man: “There was a considerable issue with flooding on the Brocca Road and it was causing problems for nearby properties. This is a project that I have been pushing for a number of years now. In recent weeks the Tullamore Municipal District's engineering team has installed a new drainage system diverting the storm water to the local river. This work was done to a very high standard in preparation for the 250m of road that was recycled and resurfaced by local contractors Callington Ltd. This project will make a huge difference to the residents affected on the Brocca Road.
“Over the last number of years I have worked to see the road from Screggan Cross to Killina secure substantial investment with full reconstruction and overlay with asphalt. This week this scheme will advance further towards Killina with 1.2km of asphalt being laid at Glaskill.
With the continued growth of Killina Presentation Secondary School, this road carries a lot of traffic and its improvement will provide a safer route for all road users.”
