Woman hospitalised after being knocked down on Christmas Eve in the Midlands
Gardaí are seeking the public's help with an investigation into a Christmas Eve accident in Mountmellick which has led to a woman being hospitalised.
Ambulances and gardaí rushed to the scene of the incident in the heart in the town centre on Saturday morning, December 24.
Portlaoise Gardaí say the accident involved a pedestrian and a van in the vicinity of the square between 9.30am and 9.45am.
The woman, who is aged in her 70s, was removed immediately to the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore with what are understood to be serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, a man, is not understood to have been injured in the collision.
Gardaí would like to hear from anybody who may have witnessed the incident or who may be able to assist with the investigation. Anybody with dash cam footage is particularly asked to contact them.
