Gardaí issue appeal after serious assault on man walking his dog in the Midlands
Gardaí are seeking the public's assistance following a serious assault in Mountrath.
Gardaí in investigating an incident which took place in the St Fintan's Terrace area of the town on Friday night, December 23.
A man, who is aged in his 40s, is understood to have been set upon between 10pm and 10.30pm. He was taking his dog out for a walk at the time when the alleged assault occurred in the estate which is located off Shannon Street.
He was subsequently taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Though discharged after treatment, he was subsequently readmitted for further observation.
Gardaí are anxious to speak with a number young people who may have been in the vicinity of the incident at the time.
