Shane Lowry off the pace after opening round at DP World Tour Championship
Shane Lowry finds himself off the pace after the opening round of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
The Offaly golfer finds himself eight shots of the lead after an up and down opening round of one over par.
After a birdie on the second, he had a double bogey on the par 3 fourth but he got that back with a birdie on the fifth.
Through the middle of his round, he had four bogeys on just one birdie to leave him on three over after 14 holes.
However he finished well with birdies on 15 and 18 to get back to one over par in a tie for 33rd place.
The tournament is led by the English pair of Tyrell Hatton and Matt Fitzpatrick who both shot rounds of seven under.
Rory McIlroy, who went into the tournament as the DP World Tour Leader, shot a one under par round.
The tournament is the finale of the European Tour season.
