Car crash at Kilbeggan bridge in Tullamore
A ROAD has been closed this morning in Tullamore after a single vehicle accident.
No traffic is permitted to enter part of Clontarf Road, from Kilbeggan bridge to the road leading to Lanello.
A Toyota hatchback crashed into a sign at the top of Clontarf Road beside the bridge.
The vehicle sustained significant damage at its front and remains turned on its side at the scene.

Gardai are on duty at both Kilbeggan bridge and further down Clontarf Road, close to the pedestrian bridge across the Grand Canal, turning approaching traffic away.

A garda photographer has also been taking pictures of the scene.
As yet it is not known how many people were in the car or the extent of any injuries.
One resident of Clontarf Road said they heard a loud bang at about 6am. The fire service then went to the scene.
