Offaly is set for a jobs boost thanks to a timber business currently based in Lakeland Enterprise Centre, Ballydangan, Athlone relocating to the county.
Correll Timber, which employs seven people, is moving to Ferbane Business and Technology Park after Offaly County Council agreed to the sale of two units.
Eugene Cornally will be acquiring site numbers 11 and 12 in the Business and Technology Park for €43,000. Cornally is making the move in order to facilitate an expansion.
In a letter to the councillors, Director of Services Tom Shanahan stated: "Mr. Cornally intends to relocate his business, Corell Timber, from Athlone to Ferbane, where he plans to build an industrial unit of approximately 20,000 square feet, he requires more space to grow the business. Corell Timber is a superior high quality, architectural and timber cladding, decking and moulding."
The sale was unanimously supported by councillors present, paving the way for the move to go through.
