Further to a fault affecting more than 1,500 in Birr this afternoon, 99 ESB customers in Kilcormac have been hit with a similar outage.

A fault was reported there shortly before 2pm with crews now working at the site of both faults in an effort to restore power.
The estimated time of restoration given by ESB for the Kilcormac fault is 5.45pm on Tuesday while Birr customers can expect power to be fully restored an hour earlier.
The ESB is working to fix the problems and restore electricity earlier than those times and they have apologised for the inconvenience caused.
