A WOMAN in her 40s and a teenage male were taken to hospital on Sunday (March 29) after a collision on the N62 road near Ballinahown, Co Westmeath.

In a statement, gardai described the collision, which occurred at about 1pm as “serious” and said it involved a van being driven by a woman and a car being driven by a male in his late teens.

The woman was brought to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar for treatment of “serious injuries”, believed to be non-life-threatening.

The male teenager, who was described as an adult, was brought to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

“The three male passengers of the car (aged in their 20’s) also attended Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for injuries,” the garda statement said.

The scene has been preserved for examination by garda forensic collision investigators and local traffic diversions were in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
