Gardaí rush to scene of bare-chested brawl at Newbridge's Whitewater Shopping Centre

Shoppers at Whitewater Shopping Centre in Newbridge were left horrified by a brawl involving a number of males on Sunday, September 7.

The vicious row began outside the busy shopping centre before the group of men moved inside the building where hundreds of shoppers were left scrambling to avoid the blows.

A video of the incident circulating on social media then shows two men on an escalator with one striking the other with what appears to be a mop. Members of the public can be seen running away from the violent scene.

In a statement, gardaí confirmed they responded to the scene and that one person was hospitalised.

They said: "Gardaí received a report of an alleged incident of violent disorder at a commercial premises in Newbridge, Co Kildare, which occurred at approximately 3:35pm on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

"A male juvenile was treated at Naas General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries."

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.
 
Any pedestrians or road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

They concluded by saying investigations are ongoing.
