Plans for a new funeral parlour in the centre of Tullamore have been put on hold for now

PJ Lambe, David Lambe and Edel Kenny lodged a planning application to change the use of an existing commercial unit on Main Street, Tullamore into a funeral parlour but those plans are on hold as Offaly County Council has sought further information before making a decision.

The premises is currently empty and the plans for the funeral parlour also include a family bereavement room.

In a letter seeking further information, Offaly County Council has asked for a revised front elevation for the building and a traffic and pedestrian management plan to ensure pedestrian safety. The local authority has also sought clarification on how the applicant propose to deal with parking and arrival and departure during operation.

Offaly County Council also raised concerns over how the development complies with car parking requirements.

One submission on the application also raised concerns over parking at the proposed funeral parlour.
