SHOCKING: BMW drives through garda checkpoint in the Midlands and then is involved in 'number of dangerous driving incidents'
Gardaí have issued an appeal for information in relation to a BMW which was involved in a hit and run in the Midlands
Gardaí said the dark coloured BMW 520/530 drove through a garda checkpoint on the Dublin Road in Portlaoise moments before a number of dangerous driving incidents including a hit and run incident.
“Laois RPU(Road Protection Unit) are investigating an incident from last night where a dark coloured BMW 520/530 drove through a checkpoint on the Dublin Road at the fire station at approximately 12.10am on Sunday, December 23,” Gardai stated.
“It was subsequently involved in a number of dangerous driving incidents. It travelled out the Borris Road and into Dr Murphy Place where it collided with a parked car before taking off back out the Dublin Road and turning onto the Block Road. It then travelled back in the Stradbally Road towards town before taking a right at St Peter & Pauls Church and going back out the Dublin Road again. The manner of driving was extremely dangerous and reckless and has no place on our roads,” Gardai said.
“Laois Roads Policing would appreciate it if the public could assist us in locating or identifying this vehicle and driver. Anyone that was travelling in the above locations between the times of 12.10am and 12.30am that may have dash cam footage or may have any information relating to what happened we would ask them to please contact Portlaoise Garda Station and leave a message for Laois Roads Policing and we will contact you. We can also be contacted at Portlaoise.traffic@garda.ie or the Garda confidential 1800 666 111,” Gardaí concluded.
