Offaly man involved in money laundering had very positive probation report
A MAN who became involved in money laundering had a very positive report from the probation services, Judge Andrew Cody noted at last week's district court.
Craig Tyrrell (22), Tyrrells Lane, Downshire, Edenderry, appeared before Judge Andrew Cody accused of laundering €12,647.89 at AIB, JKL Street, Edenderry on October 27 last year, the money being the proceeds of criminal conduct.
Solicitor Aisling Maloney said Mr Tyrell is now working part time as a delivery driver. He had been working at a filling station.
Judge Cody said this was a very serious charge and while he didn't like insulting people he said it wouldn't exist if it wasn't for fools like him.
He instructed Mr Tyrell to pay €2,000 to the Acorn Project for a Barista training project. He granted legal aid to Ms Maloney.
