ALERT: Forecaster warns of heavy rain and strong winds as Ireland to get early taste of Autumn weather
A leading forecaster is warning that heavy rain and strong winds will hit Ireland this week as we get what he describes as an early taste of Autumn weather.
In his latest weather forecast, Cathal Nolan of Ireland's Weather Channel says that the coming week looks set to provide us with an early taste of autumn with our weather being firmly dictated by a strong jet stream with multiple low pressure systems moving in off the Atlantic.
His forecast says that some of these low pressures will provide unseasonably windy conditions with a risk of gales in places, with weather warnings likely to be issued. In particular he says there’s the possibility of windy conditions on Wednesday night and Thursday, with possibly stormy conditions on Friday.
He adds that heavy rain will also be a feature of our weather with above average rainfall totals in many areas, especially across the north and west of the country with totals in excess of 100mm in some places over the course of the week
