Prospects – It will be very interesting to see how Daingean go this year. They were very impressive winners of intermediate last year and some times, the momentum from a title win can carry through in a higher grade. Daingean have potential but the departure of Shane Tierney to Australia is a potentially devastating blow to their prospects. They will be decent. Adam Bolger was called into the Offaly senior football panel after impressive defensive performances last year, Cathal Ryan should be capable of running games from the centre of defence and Cian Bracken, up out of minor ranks, should be a definite asset to the forward line – he should have a point to prove after not making the Offaly U-20 football panel this year. Tierney, however, was very much provided the X factor last year and was the difference between Daingean and many of their opponents. Senior B is a considerable step up from intermediate and without Tierney on board, back to back promotions could be beyond them – they are certainly behind Clara and Clonbullogue in the starting pecking order, and arguably Cappincur.
