Prospects – The way Walsh Island have survived at senior “B” level in recent years is a credit to them. They have looked to be on their last legs at this level for a few years now, yet turn up and perform every day. Their sheer will has seen them win games against the head and hold their own, even though they have a few players in the veteran category – and they have been there for a few years now. At some stage, they will run out of legs and Walsh Island may take a step back. That is a possibility this year, though the progression of a handful of players out of minor level will be a help. They are certainly championship outsiders and it would be a huge surprise if they went in an upward direction to senior but you write Walsh Island off at their peril and what you see, is what you get.
