Investigation underway after man dies in farm accident in Offaly
An investigation is underway following the death of a man in a farm accident in Offaly.
The incident happened on farmland in the Garryhinch area of Offaly on Thursday, July 5.
Gardaí confirmed that they were alerted at around 7.30pm on Thursday to the workplace accident.
It is understood that a Laois man in his 70s was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is believed that he suffered fatal injuries while removing hay from a field rented in the area.
The deceased's body was removed from the scene to the morgue in Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The Health and Safety Authority was due to arrive at the scene on Friday morning, July 6. It issued a brief statement
"The Health and Safety Authority is aware of this incident and has launched an investigation. As such, no further details are available at this time," it said.
