A teenage boy has died following a water-related incident in the Grand Canal.
According to gardai, at approximately 5.40pm on Saturday, May 11, they became aware of a person who had gotten into difficulty in the water in the Grand Canal in between Ardclough and Celbridge in County Kildare.
A number of emergency services attended the scene and the body of a male youth in his teens was recovered from the water a short time later.
A Garda spokesperson said that the local coroner has been notified, and arrangements were being made for a post-mortem examination.
It is understood that the incident was a tragic accident.
