An elderly cat who has been missing for nine years has found his way back home. The Longford cat - named Paddy Garfield - was spotted by his owner on a local vet's social media and found approximately 20km from home.
According to the Lost and Found Cats Ireland Facebook page, he was reportedly found around the McDonalds area of Longford.
His owner - who said finding him after nine years was "amazing" - suspects someone cared for Paddy at some point during his absence, but may have passed away.
He is reportedly warning pet owners to be careful of vans or trucks, as cats "tend to fall asleep in them and find themselves in a strange place when they wake up".
Paddy the cat is now 15 years old and finally home with his owner.
