Met Eireann pinpoints when cold snap will end with stormy weather on the way
Met Eireann has pinpointed when the cold snap for Ireland will end but there will be no respite from inclement weather with strong winds and heavy rain forecast in the coming days.
According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, tonight and tomorrow morning will see the last of the freezing conditions for now but the Arctic blast that has gripped the country is set to be replaced by milder temperatures but also wet and windy weather.
According to Met Eireann, most areas will stay dry and clear tonight but scattered showers of rain, sleet or snow will continue in Ulster and north Connacht. It will be very cold with widespread sharp to severe frost, icy stretches and patches of fog or freezing fog. Lowest temperatures between -6 and -2 degrees with light southwest or variable breezes.
It will be cold and bright to start on Friday morning with widespread frost and icy stretches. Cloud will increase from the west through the afternoon and evening. Not quite as cold as previous days with afternoon highs of 4 to 7 degrees. Light southerly breezes will gradually freshen.
According to Met Eireann, Friday night will be cloudy or overcast with rain developing in the west and spreading eastwards overnight. It will start off cold, but temperatures will rise to between 5 and 9 degrees overnight. Southerly winds will increase fresh to strong.
Saturday will be a mostly cloudy day with outbreaks of rain through the morning followed by showers later. Noticeably milder and windier than previous days with afternoon temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees, in fresh southerly winds.
Mostly dry overnight on Saturday night with lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees. Southerly winds will strengthen fresh to strong overnight.
According to Met Eireann, Sunday will be very windy with spells of heavy rain and very strong, gusty southerly winds, becoming westerly later as the rain clears to widespread showers. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.
According to Met Eireann, current indications suggest that Monday will be a breezy day of sunny spells and scattered showers, possibly heavy. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with fresh to strong westerly winds.
Next week will continue unsettled with wet and windy weather at times.
