THE Offaly GAA County Board benefitted from a major fundraising golf classic in Dublin on Friday last.

With the great weather adding to the feel good atmosphere, over fifty teams competed in a very enjoyable day's golf at Palmerstown House – where the clug gave a great, genuine welcome to all.

It was the third annual classic organised by the Offaly Association in Dublin and while the final figures have not been tallied yet, it is expected that it will have yielded over €30,000.

The Offaly Association got a great response from exiles in Dublin, people at home and business contacts of members and friends.

The support of sponsors was crucial to its success. The main sponsors was the Celt Bar, Talbot Street, owned by Coolderry native and Association activist, Noel Tynan; and Toyota of Sandyford in Dublin.

Sponsors from home also rowed in with the Bridge House in Tullamore putting up the first prize of a night's stay for two, dinner and golf in Esker Hills x 4 for the first prize. The County Arms in Birfr put up a similar prize for second with the golf in Birr while there were other attractive prizes, including green fees for golf at various clubs.

The Association wish to thank all who supported a great day, the sponsors and they look forward to continued support in the coming years.
