Emergency Services including members of Offaly Civil Defence helped to rescue a family who became lost in the Slieve Bloom Mountains last weekend.
A number of agencies responsed to a call out from a family who had become lost in the Glenbarrow area as it was getting dark on Saturday night.
“Shortly before 21:30 last night South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association were tasked to Glen Barrow in the Slieve Blooms after a family got disorientated in the wooded area and got lost, the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association said.
“A multi-agency team made up of Laois Civil-Defence, An Garda Síochána and SEMRA members were on scene and helped to locate the family and bring guide them back out to safety. A successful outcome. All members were returning home shortly after 23:35,” they said.
On Sunday, Laois Civil Defence said “last night, our volunteers were activated to assist a family who had become lost in the Slieve Bloom Mountains.”
“Two teams from Laois CD along with members from South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association, Offaly Civil Defence and Garda Síochána Laois Offaly carried out a search of the area and managed to locate the family and return them to safety,” they said.
