OFFALY County Council has granted permission for the construction of semi-detached houses on the Geashill road in Ballinagar.

Landowner Joe Brophy applied for consent to build six three-bedroom two-storey houses on a 0.395ha site between the existing Pairc na hEornan and Brookfield Rise residential developments.

The new scheme will be a cul-de-sac development with a footpath to the main road and the adjoining estates.

Planning permission was granted with 22 conditions attached.

Among the conditions are stipulations regarding slates, tiles, windows, doors and finishes that can be used.

The developer is also obliged to provide details of a proposed name for the development prior to commencement of works.

Also included in the conditions is a Development Contribution of €18,060 to the council.
