Suspended sentence for man who was jumping out in front of traffic in Offaly
A MAN who was already in custody on an assault charge appeared at last week's district court.
On June 2, 2023, Gardai received a report of a man jumping out in front of traffic at Ballyegan, Birr at 10.20pm
Thomas Headon, (40) of Wraymount Stud, Birr was not wearing any high viz clothing and was completely in black.
He was a danger to himself and was arrested for his own sake, Sgt James O'Sullivan told the court.
He also failed to provide his name and address to Garda Vincent Hogan on the same date.
Solicitor Donal Farrelly said his client was a 40 year old man who had been residing with his parents in Birr.
He said he is currently serving an 18 month sentence with nine months suspended for an assault. His conviction had taken place in a Dublin court the previous Tuesday.
Mr Farrelly said he was in Brazil for ten years but had returned to Ireland for this case.
Mr Farrelly asked Judge Andrew Cody to take into account the sentence he is already serving.
Judge Cody imposed a one month sentence which he suspended for two years.
