Storm warning issued as Met Eireann warns that very strong winds set to hit Ireland

A storm warning has been issued as Met Eireann is warning that very strong winds are set to hit Ireland over the coming days. 

Two separate Status Orange Storm Warnings have been issued from Carnsore Point to Mizen Head to Erris Head and from from Erris Head to Rossan Point to Malin Head for Wednesday. Met Eireann is warning that winds will reach storm force 10 at times from the early hours of Wednesday morning through Wednesday afternoon. 

Met Eireann has also issued three Status Yellow Wind Warnings. 

A Wind Warning for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Meath, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford has been issued for today (Tuesday). Valid from 3pm to 9pm, it warns that very strong gusts are to be expected for a short time this afternoon and evening, causing some disruption.

Two more Status Yelllow Wind Warnings have been issued for Wednesday covering the entire country. 

A Status Yellow Wind Warning for Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway and Mayo will be in place from 1am to 5pm on Wednesday and is warning that very strong west to northwest winds will developing. Met Eireann says that widespread gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h are expected, stronger in coastal areas and over higher ground. There will also be wave overtopping in coastal areas.

A separate Status Yellow Wind warning for Leinster, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, and Waterford will be in place from 8am to 8pm on Wednesday. It warns that very strong northwest winds will develop with widespread gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h expected. These gusts will be stronger in exposed areas.
