Daingean's Ciara Farrell about to tackle Tullamore's Shannon Touhey in Munster's win over Connacht.
A DAINGEAN woman has played a promiment role as Munster won the interprovincial rugby title last Saturday.
Ciara Farrell was in the backrow as Munster played very well to take the title. They clinched the crowd with an excellent performanc in a bonus point, 50-24 win over Connacht in Galway on Saturday afternoon.
The Connacht team included Tullamore woman, Shannon Touhey.
Munster were retaining the title and Farrell, who plays her club rugby with UL Bohemians, came on as a second half replacement in the back row.
32 years of age and from Derrygowley, Daingean, Farrell started her rugby career with Tullamore and has made great progress. She played with Connacht before switching to Munster. Her father Christy is a native of Little Island, Daingean and her mother, Fionuala is a Caulfield from Tullamore.
Earlier they had defeated Leinster, 26-17 with Farrell among the replacements, and Munster by 34-0.
