Bookmakers are offering odds of almost 20/1 on Offaly winning a hurling and football league double over the next two weekends.

In a rare occurrence, both Offaly's footballers and hurlers have reached their respective league finals after stellar campaigns in Division 3 of the football and Division 1B of the hurling league.

Offaly are far from no-hopers in both finals but for some reason the bookies have priced them up as such. The hurlers are 4/1 to reverse form with Waterford after their defeat to the Déise last weekend.

More shockingly, the footballers, just weeks after giving Kildare a bit of a spanking in Tullamore, have been priced up as 13/5 outsiders with our neighbours deemed an odds-on 4/11 shot in Croke Park.

A €10 double on both Offaly outfits winning would return €180 if they both claim victory with odds on the double currently 17/1.

The footballers played some lovely football against Kildare in a 2-17 to 0-17 win just two weeks ago and will be confident their style of play will suit the expanse of HQ.

The hurlers have a tough assignment against Waterford but their defeat last week was far from embarrassing. The 0-22 to 1-11 scoreline suggests a hiding but Offaly were in the luxurious position of being guaranteed promotion before that game while James Mahon's controversial red card early in the game was a killer.

Back at full strength and with a big Offaly crowd joining them on the road to Cork, spirits will be high in the Faithful camp and a victory is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Lastly, as always, up the Faithful!!!
