Today FM listeners give hilariously rude name to new Offaly coffee shop

An Offaly coffee shop has been given a name after a nationwide appeal on the Dave Moore Show on Today FM.

Mairead O'Connor from Rhode, Co Offaly, appeared on the popular morning radio show last week looking for listener suggestions to name her new café.

The café will offer fresh coffee as well as homemade bakes and treats and the Today FM listenership got very invested in naming it, so much so that Mairead was back on the show this week to reveal the winning name.

After contemplating a few names like the Bawn Farmhouse or Girl Flour, Mairead has decided on a rather more out-there winner. Her coffee shop will now be called The Bog's Dollops a play on words from a rather rude phrase and paying homage to the baking and the Offaly landscape.

Dave Moore has already petitioned to get a 'Bog's Dollops' hoodie. The name has not gone down well with Mairead's mammy but the rest of us love it.

"We decided to keep it classy," she told Today FM listeners, describing the winning name as "an absolute banger."
