IN a passionate condemnation of the government's inaction, local area representative for Birr Muncipal District with Aontú, Aubrey Claffey, has brought attention to a startling revelation uncovered through an Aontú parliamentary question. The inquiry has revealed that a staggering 85% of deportation orders issued by the government have gone unimplemented.

Recent findings reveal this information, including a secret Department of Justice briefing paper, warning of the urgent need to resume deportation due to the majority of international asylum applicants being economic migrants. When Aontù pressed on the whereabouts of individuals who failed the asylum process and were supposed to be deported, Justice Minister Helen McEntee admitted she did not know their whereabouts and was lacking knowledge on the matter.

"The revelation of the government's failure to action 85% of deportation orders is deeply troubling and alarming and is causing fear and anxiousness among communities across Ireland. It is imperative that this matter be addressed urgently to restore faith in our immigration system and uphold the rule of law," said Mr Claffey.

Mr Claffey reiterated Aontú's steadfast commitment to advocating for responsible and effective immigration policies.

Furthermore, Aubrey Claffey seeks further clarification on what percentage of the aforementioned 85% pertains specifically to individuals within the Birr Municipal District.

"As a local area representative with Aontú, Aubrey remains resolute in bringing this to the table on an ongoing basis as it is a major concern for the people of the Birr Municipal District. The government cannot quietly ignore this any further. 85% makes for harrowing reading," concluded Mr Claffey.
