The Offaly Climate and Biodiversity Action Group (OCBAG) will hold its inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM) this evening, Tuesday, 7 October at 7.30pm. in St Mary’s Youth Centre, Tullamore.
Formed earlier this year, OCBAG has already established a strong presence across the county, with members from Edenderry, Birr, Tullamore, Clara, Banagher and beyond. The group’s mission is to enhance, protect and promote nature, while providing opportunities for people to learn about and respond to the impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss in Offaly.
The aims of OCBAG include:
• Enhancing and protecting nature within Offaly and its surrounding areas.
• Providing education and awareness opportunities on climate and biodiversity.
• Sharing balanced, factual information with the community.
• Offering a safe and welcoming space for people to connect and exchange ideas.
Already, the group has hosted two successful events:
• A talk at Tullamore Library by a leading Met Éireann metrologist on how climate change is affecting biodiversity in Ireland.
• Offaly’s first Climate Café in St Mary’s Youth Centre, which drew strong participation from across the county.

The AGM will build on this momentum, with elections for officers and an open invitation for anyone interested in climate action, biodiversity, or simply learning more about these issues to get involved.
Members of our group attended the National Ploughing Championships and noted it is clear climate and biodiversity issues are on people's minds. There were some great projects and initiatives on display.
Many households and businesses want to be more sustainable but don’t always know where to find accurate information. We hope OCBAG can be a trusted source and a place where people can connect, share knowledge and take action.
The inaugural meeting is been organised by the working group which has laid the foundations for OCBAG.
All are welcome to attend.
