Transition Year students in Killina Presentation Secondary School enjoyed a whirlwind week of drama and excitement as they took to the stage to perform their much-anticipated school production, Aladdin’s Tale. The show, which ran across two evenings on the 19th and 20th of November, also featured a special matinee performance for local primary schools on the morning of the 19th.
After two months of dedicated rehearsals, commitment, and creative collaboration, the students delivered a vibrant, entertaining, and energetic performance that showcased their talent both on and off the stage.
Callan Kinnarney stepped confidently into the role of Aladdin, bringing charm and humour to the character. Ciara Nugent delivered a poised and engaging performance as Princess Jasmine, supported beautifully by her attendants Ana, Sorcha, and Amelia, who added elegance and warmth to each scene.
Rory Byrne shone as the Genie, bringing comedy, charisma, and crowd-pleasing energy to the stage.
The production also featured a strong supporting cast, Laura Fox portrayed the Sultana, adding regal presence throughout the show. Dawid Bryja impressed audiences with his powerful performance as Jafar, the story’s villain. Katie O’Toole brought personality and flair to the role of Iago.Aladdin’s pals, played by Mohanned, Eva Rose and Lucy delivered lively and fun performances that added humour and heart to the musical numbers.

All supporting TY students performed wonderfully, contributing to a production that was full of life and colour.
What set this production apart was the remarkable involvement of students across multiple subjects. As an entirely in-house show, Aladdin’s Tale became a cross-curricular project. Art teachers and students designed the colourful and imaginative set. Woodwork teachers and students constructed the staging and props. Whilst the Home Economics teachers and students contributed through costume design.
The production’s success was supported by a dedicated team of teachers who guided and encouraged the students throughout the process. Ms Fitzpatrick – Musical Director

Behind the scenes, Ms Lloyd, along with the teaching staff and SNAs, played a crucial role in organising sponsorship, coordinating the raffle, managing venue setup, and overseeing ticket sales—ensuring each night ran smoothly. Special mention to TY student Roisin Osbourne for all her late evenings preparing stage and props for the show.
No theatrical production would be complete without its technical team. Stage lighting and sound were expertly managed by Ronan Kenny and Derrick Recks.
Ty Co-ordinator Mr Eoin Carton was delighted with the work ethic and enthusiasm shown by all students. The school community can be incredibly proud of everyone involved in bringing this magical tale to life.
