Popular Offaly parkrun venue parkrun celebrates International Volunteer Day

International volunteer day was celebrated last week.

Mountlucas parkrun could not take place each week without the support and dedication of an incredible group of volunteers.

Parkrun volunteers are incredibly important to everything that happens at parkrun. Their ordinary skills create extraordinary parkruns — bringing each event to life and creating a happier and healthier world.

There’s no experience needed and you don’t need to have been to a parkrun before. There are lots of roles to choose from and someone will show you what to do on the day.

The team at Mountlucas parkrun shared a heartfelt thanks this week to everyone who has volunteered in 2025 with Mountlucas parkrun.

There would be no Mountlucas parkrun without our amazing volunteers.

Mountlucas parkrun takes place at Bord na Móna Mountlucas windfarm every Saturday morning at 9.30am sharp. There's something for everyone at Mountlucas parkrun whether you want to walk, run, volunteer or just meet new people. Parkrun isn’t just a timed run: it’s about community, inclusivity, and wellbeing.

Every event at Mountlucas brings together people of all ages and abilities, creating a warm, encouraging atmosphere. Whether you’re walking your first 5 km or picking up your 50th, Mountlucas parkrun offers something for everyone.
