DOCHAS Offaly Cancer Support Group was delighted to welcome four young fundraisers to its centre this week after they donated the proceeds of a summer fundraising initiative.

Méabh Boyce, Sinéad Murray, Dónal Murray, and Niall Grehan have spent the summer months running a pop-up “Bits and Bobs” shop on Davitt Street in Tullamore.

Selling handmade bracelets, lucky bags, sweets, and fairy jars, the young entrepreneurs raised an impressive €130 — and chose to donate every cent to Dóchas in support of the organisation’s work with people affected by cancer in Offaly.

The children visited the centre on Monday afternoon to present the funds and share stories of their venture with the Dóchas team.

“We are so proud of these four incredible young people,” said John Conroy, Service Manager at Dochas. “Their kindness, creativity, and thoughtfulness are truly inspiring. It was a real joy to meet them and to thank them in person. The money they raised will go directly toward supporting people in Tullamore and the wider community.”

Moments like these remind us that the future is in safe hands. Seeing young people take such initiative and act with such compassion is a powerful reminder of the good that exists in the world. At a time when it's easy to be overwhelmed by challenges, Méabh, Sinéad, Dónal, and Niall have shown us that the next generation is full of heart, generosity, and purpose.

The team at Dóchas extends heartfelt thanks to all four young people for their incredible contribution and the joy they brought to the centre.
