MOUNTLUCAS parkrun teamed up with Daingean Homecoming Festival at the weekend for a special festival parkrun. Mountlucas parkrun was one of a range of events featured on the fun filled line-up for the Daingean Festival over the bank holiday weekend.

Participants at the parkrun were delighted to enjoy some post-parkrun refreshments of tea, coffee and hot breakfast treats at the special festival event. These were kindly sponsored by Bord na Móna. Bord na Móna has been a key supporter and sponsor of Mountlucas parkrun since it's inception in July 2017.

It was a beautiful, dry and slightly breezy morning. It made for wonderful running and walking conditions which suited 10 of the participants who achieved a new personal best (PB) time.

One of those was Mia Gallagher, aged 15, whose 100th parkrun it was.

She certainly made it a memorable occasion by achieving a PB and being the first person across the finish line.

Well done Mia from all at Mountlucas parkrun. Mia, who is a member of Tullamore Harriers Athletics Club is a strong athlete, regularly taking part in trail running and cross country events. Speaking to Mia after the event she spoke about the significance of the milestone for her: "Mountlucas parkrun got me into running when I was 7. The encouragement and support from all participants from when I was cycling alongside my Mam before my first Parkrun to finishing first today is what makes the parkrun so enjoyable. This support has made me go back 100 times."

Mountlucas parkrun takes place at Bord na Móna Mountlucas windfarm every Saturday morning at 9.30am sharp. There's something for everyone at Mountlucas parkrun whether you want to walk, run, volunteer or just meet new people. For more information see
