Young brothers complete 100th parkrun at Offaly venue

MEET brothers Nathan (13) and RJ (14) from Portarlington who both recently completed their 100th parkrun at Mountlucas parkrun.

When did you complete your first parkrun?

Nathan: I completed my first ever parkrun in September 2019.

RJ: I completed my first parkrun in July 2019.

What is your favourite thing about parkrun?

Nathan: My favourite thing about parkrun is the community and the people; the way everybody is friendly and cheers me on when I feel like I have no more energy.

RJ: My favourite thing is the encouragement that everyone gives to each other.

How does it feel to have reached the milestone of 100 parkruns?

Nathan: It feels great to have completed 100 parkruns as I have accomplished this with my family always there for me. I’m so happy to celebrate this milestone with them.

RJ: It feels amazing to have completed 100 parkruns. I am very proud of this achievement.

What is your favourite parkrun memory?

Nathan: My favourite memory is running with Neil, as he pushed me on the whole of the run and helped me achieve my personal best.

RJ: My favourite parkrun memory has to be last week when I surprised myself by achieving a personal best.

What words would you use to describe Mountlucas parkrun?

Nathan: The best words that describe Mountlucas parkrun are friendly and enjoyable because the people are friendly and it’s enjoyable because running isn’t a competition, it’s to enjoy a nice run.

RJ: The best words to describe Mountlucas parkrun are amazing scenery, very encouraging people, and a most enjoyable run!
