A local committee headed up by Dervill Dolan and Ricey Scully with support from the Clara Family Resource Centre and Offaly County Council are holding The Scare in the Square kids Halloween party in the Greenfield in Clara on Halloween night.

Dervill Dolan, chairman of the organising committee said "Halloween night is a special night in a kids life and we are organising a simple fun night for the Kids at Halloween and we want all the Kids in Clara and the surrounding area to come and enjoy the night. We had a fantastic Halloween party for the Kids on Halloween Night in Clara last year and we were really pleased with the huge turnout and the kids really got involved dancing and singing and everybody made a big effort to dress up on the night. This year we are asking the parents and adults to dress up as well as the Kids to have a bit of fun on the night.
This year’s event will feature many characters including Dracula and The Witches, Ghostbusters, Spiderman, Elsa and Olaf, Superman, Shrek, The Hulk and many other Disney and Super Hero characters."

"Entertainment on the night will start with our own Clara Town Swing band at 6.45pm and we will have songs from some famous ‘Special Guests’ on the night including ABBA, One Direction, George Ezra, Ed Sheeran, The Beatles, and the highlight of the night will conclude with the Kids Baby Shark dance and we want all the Kids to practice at home and take part in the dancing and singing on the night."

The event will take place in the Greenfield in Clara this year and will kick off at 6.45pm on Halloween night Wednesday October 31st next, and everyone is welcome to attend. Kids and adults are asked to dress up in their Halloween outfits and wear your wellies as they are going onto the grass area this year. Practicing for the event has been in full swing for the past few weeks.

The council are closing the roads around the Greenfield for the Halloween party, so take note that traffic diversions will be in place on the night.

Dervill continued with: "We very much appreciate that extra parking has been made available at Clara Swimming Pool, Ard Scoil Chiarain Naofa (basketball court) and also at St. Francis Boys National School. We hope the kids will have a really fun time at The Scare in the Square and enjoy the music and dancing and we will have a few treats and surprises for them on the night. We hope to start with the Clara band at around 6.45pm and have it over by about 7.45pm and we want everybody to bring the kids and dress up for a bit of fun and enjoy the Clara Halloween ‘Scare in the Square’."

"I am very grateful to the local committee including Ricey Scully, Margaret Naughton, Derek Handy, Bertie McMahon, Alan Recks, Liz Rickard, Barry Flynn, Fr. Conor, Marian Fitzpatrick, Des Dunne, Celsius Doolan and Liz and Sinead in the Family Resource Centre."
