THE Government has been blasted for ruling out cost of living measures in the forthcoming Budget.
Speaking to the press at the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan today, Sinn Fein leader, Mary Lou McDonald said the cost of living crisis was the top issue raised by people with her during her walkaround at the event.
She said people were feeling the pinch with energy costs particularly in light of increases in charges by many providers in recent weeks.
The SF leader said up to 500,000 consumers were experiencing problems with increases in energy bills and sharply criticised the Government for ruling out cost of living measures in this area.
Ms McDonald said she was thoroughly enjoying her visit to the Ploughing which she observed was blessed with fine weather conditions despite the ever present threat of rain.
Addressing agricultural issues, she said her party is opposed to the Mercusor deal and appreciates farmers concerns on derogation.
