WATCH: Longford-based celebrity chef at Ploughing... but is he from France or the K Club?

Taoiseach jokes that he embellished Gary O'Hanlon's origins in Midlands Flavours marquee

From a French chateau, Longford or the K Club?  Take your pick!

Taoiseach Micheal Martin admitted to embellishing the story of celebrity chef Gary O'Hanlon in the Midlands Flavours marquee at the Ploughing.

Mr Martin congratulated all the food producer exhibitors from Offaly, Laois, Westmeath and Longford before the chef, who hails from Ramelton, Co Donegal but lives in Granard, started his demonstration.

“I'm here with Jim Gavin, our presidential candidate, who has his own flavours as well in many different walks of life, particularly in football and other endeavours.

“But we're here to introduce to you, a celebrity chef that has come from a chateau in France...,” said An Taoiseach, before he was interrupted by O'Hanlon who said he had come from the K Club.

Mr Martin responded: “I know you're from the K Club but I have to embellish you a little!”

He added: “Who better than Gary O'Hanlon to draw the best out of the high quality food of this region.”
